After spending all season without first-team action, Gerald Phiri Jnr, has said he is frustrated with the lack of action.<\/p>\n
The Bidvest Wits midfielder was loaned out to Botswana side, Township Rollers, after Wits had exhausted its quota of five foreign players.<\/p>\n
However, the Flames midfielder did not get any game-time at Rollers and he confessed that the past few months have been frustrating for him after making an impact at the Cosafa Cup tournament in South Africa last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is really frustrating to stay idle for the whole season. I was hoping that I would play in Botswana so that I should stay in shape. Things didn\u2019t work out for me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Phiri Jnr said he was hopeful of making a mark at Wits next season as he would play alongside compatriot Frank Gabadinho Mhango who had a successful loan spell at another South African club, Golden Arrows.<\/p>\n
\u201cI returned to Wits after my loan contract ended in Botswana. I have been training with the first team and the club said they will put me on a special training programme to get in good shape. I will use this opportunity to get back at my best and make an impression,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Phiri Jnr is in Ernest Mtawali\u2019s squad for Flames\u2019 assignments in an Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier away to Zimbabwe next week and the Cosafa Cup tournament which kicks off on June 11 in Namibia.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I get the opportunity to play, I will do my best to help my country progress. We still have the potential to do better than most people think,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
