{"id":24964,"date":"2016-05-25T12:24:23","date_gmt":"2016-05-25T10:24:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=24964"},"modified":"2016-05-25T12:24:23","modified_gmt":"2016-05-25T10:24:23","slug":"bwb-improves-on-revenue-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/05\/25\/bwb-improves-on-revenue-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"BWB improves on revenue collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blantyre Water Board (BWB) says it has managed to save revenue of over K130 million in the first three months of 2016 which it was initially losing to illegal water connections in the city.<\/p>\n<p>BWB publicist Priscilla Mateyu confirmed that the board loses close to K47 million every month for supplying water to homesteads which are connected illegally.<\/p>\n<p>So far, BWB says it has managed to bust 67 illegal connections most of which were located in Ndirande, Bangwe and Manje.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have introduced more reporting points for whist le blowers and, so far, the response from the general public has been overwhelming,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mateyu said the development will help improve the Board\u2019s operational efficiency as it will now be able to collect revenue from water supplied to city residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were producing water at a cost but we were not getting money for the service rendered.
