In a move likely to fire up Kukoma Diamonds at the on-going Airtel Money Netball Trophy national finals in Lilongwe, Capital Oil Refining Industries (Cori) has promised to employ the team\u2019s players.<\/p>\n
Cori Human Resources Manager, Robert Mwanja, made the promise when the company hosted a send off dinner for Diamonds in Blantyre on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me put it on record today that we are going to employ all players for Kukoma Diamonds. Putting 20 or 25 people on our payroll should not be a problem. So consider yourselves employed from today,\u201d Mwanja said, amid a deafening applause from the players.<\/p>\n
He explained that the players will automatically fall under the company\u2019s insurance policy.<\/p>\n
Mwanja said Cori has shops and outlets that have vacancies across the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will make sure that the jobs we give the players do not interfere with their playing careers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Mwanja challenged the players to return from Lilongwe with the trophy that they have never won, saying the company will throw another lavish party for them.<\/p>\n
Diamonds captain, Caroline Mtukule-Ngwira, said she was lost for words following the company\u2019s employment offer.<\/p>\n
She, therefore, pledged to win and bring the trophy to Cori\u2019s Chirimba head office.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s General Secretary, Chimwemwe Bakali, said the job offer was evidence of the company\u2019s commitment to netball development.<\/p>\n
Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu and Southern Region Netball Committee Chairperson, Khungekile Matiya, graced the party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
