Reggae group Black Missionaries returned home from South Africa on Wednesday where they held close to seven shows.<\/p>\n
The group\u2019s frontman Anjiru Fumulani said Thursday that they were excited to be back home.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was another exciting outing where we held shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town. And we are thankful to God for being with us throughout,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Black Missionaries left the country on April 28 for the Rainbow Nation and held their first show on April 29 before coming back home to perform at a Morgan Heritage show at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on April 30.<\/p>\n
They went back to South Africa on May 1 to continue their shows before their return on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are shows which give us time to perform to a different audience. All the shows were massive and we received great support,\u201d said Anjiru.<\/p>\n
He said the South African tour also gave them a chance to shoot music videos for their Kuimba 10 DVD set to be launched June or July.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving released Kuimba 10 <\/em>we felt we should give people a DVD. We already shot some of the music videos in the country and one of them is \u2018Mr Bossman\u2019 which is currently enjoying airplay in some of the local television stations. So we took advantage of the trip to shoot other music videos,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Anjiru said if all goes according to plan, they intend to launch the DVD in June or July.<\/p>\n \u201cFor now we will just be waiting for our colleagues in South Africa who shot the music videos to do the editing and once they are ready they will send them to us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Some quarters have however, expressed concern with some of the shows that local artists hold in South Africa which they feel do not give them the perfect platforms to grow their music.<\/p>\n Others feel giants such as Black Missionaries could have, been targeting international festivals.<\/p>\n But Anjiru said much as they would love to perform in international festivals, the shows they hold have proven important as they are not only attended by Malawians but also South Africans and people from different countries.<\/p>\n He said through the shows they have held in South Africa, they have ended up selling their brand as well as growing their fan base and at the same time networking.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the reggae group will on Sunday perform at Ozone Refreshment Centre in Machinjiri, Blantyre in a welcome back show powered by Entertainers Promotions.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s taken some time since we performed in Blantyre so we are happy to perform at Ozone Refreshment Centre where we always get great support,\u201d said Anjiru.<\/p>\n The show at Ozone will see the presence of Anthony \u2018Mr Cool\u2019 Makondetsa, who did not travel to South Africa due to illness.<\/p>\n Makondetsa famed for the hit \u2018Mbumba Ya Abrahamu,\u2019 is now fit for performances.<\/p>\n The other artists set to perform at the show are Khozie Masimbe and Yanjanani Chumbu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Reggae group Black Missionaries returned home from South Africa on Wednesday where they held close to seven shows.
