Malawi\u2019s miserable boxing week was completed on Saturday when Malawi Defence Force boxers, Salimu Chazama and Osgood Kayuni, failed to win in Tanzania during non-title fights.<\/p>\n
Chazama reportedly put up a gallant fight against Tanzanian Allan Kamote, but the judges declared it a draw while Kayuni lost on a split points\u2019 decision to Ramadhani Shauri.<\/p>\n
The fights were staged at Julius Nyerere Indoor Stadium.<\/p>\n
According to Malawi\u2019s delegation, which consisted unlicensed match-maker Steve Mawenzi Msiska, Zama Boxing Promotions Managing Director, Precious Matipwili and Olusegun Kapanga, the duo were unfortunate to register the mixed fortunes.<\/p>\n
\u201cChazama was outstanding. He completely outclassed Kamote and everyone thought that our boxer had won. However, we were stunned with the result,\u201d Kapanga said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSimilarly, Kayuni was also good but the result came out as a shock. We have been robbed of victory. All visiting boxers, including one from Iran and a Zimbabwean female boxer, suffered dubious defeats.\u201d<\/p>\n
Matipwili added that the bill was briefly stopped as some supporters protested against the results.<\/p>\n
Msiska said that Chazama has also been offered a title fight after two months following the reported outstanding performance.<\/p>\n
The fights in Tanzania sums up Malawi\u2019s miserable boxing week after Limbani Masamba lost on technical knockout in the first round to Congolese, Mbia Nkanku, during the African Boxing Union super welterweight title fight at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe on Friday.<\/p>\n
Another Malawian boxer, Emmanuel Chimaja, was knocked out in the second by Zambian Alfred Mughogho.<\/p>\n
