After successfully launching his first ever DVD, The Best of Sir Paul Banda <\/em>in Lilongwe last Friday, veteran singer and guitarist Paul Banda will on Sunday perform at Blantyre Cultural Centre where he is expected to share the stage with poets.<\/p>\n

This will be the first time the legendary singer will perform live sharing the stage with poets.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am ready for the show as usual. I am even excited in that I will be sharing the stage with poets,\u201d he said yesterday.<\/p>\n

The show dubbed Macheza a Alakatuli <\/em>has been organised by Blantyre-based Five Star Entertainment.<\/p>\n

Five Star Entertainment Director Raymond Sekeni said they decided to hold the event to bring people together but also at the same time give them something different in terms of entertainment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first show for Five Star Entertainment this year. People have watched our previous events and they know how we to it. We always bring surprises and this time it is also the same. Apart from performances people will win different TNM branded items,\u201d said Sekeni.<\/p>\n

He also said that people will have a chance to watch Sir Paul Banda perform live barely a week after launching a DVD.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be special because Sir Paul will be performing just a week after launching his DVD so this is something special. He has actually said he will be performing more songs,\u201d said Sekeni.<\/p>\n

He also said that people have watched lots of poetry events at the venue but this time around they will have more time to listen to poems from their favourite poets.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn most cases poets do not have enough time to perform their poems because of a long line up and so we decided to select five poets so that they give out more poems to people,\u201d said Sekeni.<\/p>\n

The five poets performing performing on Sunday are Robert Chiwamba, Raphael Sitima, Sylvester Kalizang\u2019oma, Joseph Madzedze and presidential mimicker Frank Naligonje alias Atcheya, who has also started making strides in poetry.<\/p>\n

TNM Public Relations Manager Limbani Nsapato said they were happy to partner Five Star Entertainment in the Macheza Alakatuli show.<\/p>\n

\u201cTNM as a local company we always look at opportunities that promote our culture and one of them is Macheza a Alakatul<\/em>i. Through Mpamba service, we will be giving out different TNM branded items. Again people will also pay K1,000 through Mpamba while on the gate it will be K1,500,\u201d said Nsapato.<\/p>\n

Having also recently held a TNM Music Bash in Blantyre that hyped up the opening of the 2016 TNM Super League season, Nsapato said this year they have a lot to offer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of activities coming up and so people should just watch the space. As I said earlier on, as a local company we believe in giving back to the community and at the same time the TNM brand is a fun brand,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nsapato called on people to patronise the event that will bring poetry and music together once again.<\/p>\n

\u201cPoetry today has gone to another level and it\u2019s a big form of entertainment and so we urge people to come in large numbers and get the much needed entertainment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
