There is a lot of fusion in our songs and this comes in the background that the members have had influences from South Africa and other countries,” she said.

She added that to appeal to different people some of the songs have been done in Shona, Zulu, English and Chichewa.

“I am very optimistic people will love our work, we started working on the songs longtime ago and to be where we are now it has been a process. We recorded some of the songs with Mibawa but we have redone them once again,” she said.

Listening to some of the songs shows the group has potential although they still need to dig deeper.

Chikondi said they have even incorporated childhood songs such as ‘Mwezi Uwale,’ just to rekindle memories of the good old days and that they have tried their best to utilise some of the traditional dances such as Manganje.

Kele is expected to work on the songs for final mixing for close to 30 days and that the band expects to launch the album in August.

“But before the main launch we are thinking of pre-releasing some songs and between now and August, the band will still be active with performances so that when the launch comes up people should feel them,” said Chikondi, who also revealed that they will be producing a DVD by the end of this year.

Meanwhile Nyimbo Music says it still has plans to revive Fikisa and put it back to its fold and that they are currently in discussions with the members.

Having soared with Fikisa in the past years which impressed hits such as ‘Akamwile,’ before parting ways, Nyimbo Music Company is out with a promising fresh project.
