{"id":24133,"date":"2016-05-12T12:20:10","date_gmt":"2016-05-12T10:20:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=24133"},"modified":"2016-05-12T12:20:10","modified_gmt":"2016-05-12T10:20:10","slug":"kendall-kamwendo-working-on-new-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/05\/12\/kendall-kamwendo-working-on-new-movie\/","title":{"rendered":"Kendall Kamwendo working on new movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After killing it with his first movie <em>Where My Heart Belongs <\/em>which impressed people including former Speaker of Parliament Henry Chimunthu Banda, who officially launched it, musician-cum actor Kendall Kamwendo is working on another movie.<\/p>\n<p>Kendall of the Symon and Kendall signature confirmed the development saying the country should watch the space.<\/p>\n<p>Last month Kendall and team called for auditions for those who wanted to be part of the film titled <em>School Days. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe project is under underway and we are serious with this movie. We came out with <em>Where My Heart Belongs <\/em>last year but much as people were impressed there was no much done in terms of marketing and distribution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kendall said he decided to come up with School Days to rekindle memories of what used to happen in school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are things which used to happen at school in those days you talk of demonstrations, teasing and bullying but some of these things are no longer in the picture because of human rights,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kendall said the current generation is not aware of what used to happen in those days and that it is important that they are not forgotten.<\/p>\n<p>He boosted that <em>School Days <\/em>would take people by storm stressing that this is an action packed movie since it will be highlighting bullying and tease among others.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the actors, who he said are featuring in the film include Times Television presenter and musician Annie Matumbi, dancer and musician Wendy Harawa and his longtime colleague Symon Kamlaka.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are also other faces which featured in the first movie so there are a lot of stars playing different roles,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kendall said as an artist, he is not restricting himself into doing music alone but also exposing his other side of acting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI discovered I can do a lot of things using the talent that God gave me, music already came out but now I have to show the acting side. Again we are here not only to make up numbers but we want to help grow the film industry which has potential to develop the country\u2019s economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He could not be drawn to say when <em>School Days <\/em>will be out but he was quick to say that they have made progress and that it should be on the ground later this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is so much talent out there which needs to be exposed and film is one of them. We are serious with what we are doing and for that we already showed through the foundation with our first movie,\u201d said Kendall.<\/p>\n<p>With the movie project underway, Kendall also said they have not lost track in the music industry as they have a new album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new album is ready only that we are waiting for the right time to release it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Symon and Kendall of the \u2018Nyemba Nyemba,\u2019 fame last Friday entertained people with their songs as they spiced up the launch of Sir Paul Banda\u2019s first ever DVD held at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>Kendall also called on people to take art seriously and treat it as work and that people should not pirate their works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After killing it with his first movie Where My Heart Belongs which impressed people including former Speaker of Parliament Henry Chimunthu Banda, who officially launched it, musician-cum actor Kendall Kamwendo is working on another movie.
