Fochta, a non-governmental organisation with interests in helping orphans and vulnerable children, has opened a K154 million vocational skills training centre in Thyolo.<\/p>\n
The centre will offer skills training in areas such as carpentry, information communication technology, farming and tailoring. Graduating students will be awarded Technical Entrepreneurial Vocational Enterprises Training (Tevet) certificates.<\/p>\n
Tevet Authority Board Chairperson Gilbert Chilinde said the two organisations will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise their working relationship.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe attach great priority to youth skills training and we are ready to work with Fochta by giving necessary support through material and expertise,\u201d Chilinde said.<\/p>\n
Patron of Fochta, Claude Ho, said the NGO will continue to train youth to complement government efforts in fighting unemployment levels.<\/p>\n
In his remarks Thyolo District Commissioner Charles Thombozi hailed Fochta and other NGO\u2019s for developing the district observing it is an indication of the interest they have in assisting the government in empowering the youth.<\/p>\n
He said there are 23 skills and development centres in the district working hand in hand with the government in uplifting the livelihood of the youth.<\/p>\n
