Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Disciplinary Committee is winding up the injunction\u2019s case involving the association\u2019s losing candidates for last year\u2019s elections.<\/p>\n
The committee, through Fam General Secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda, asked the officials \u2014 Tiya Somba Banda, Wilkins Mijiga and Willy Yabwanya Phiri\u2014to make their final submissions before a determination.<\/p>\n
In a letter to representatives of the accused, Nyirenda said the final submissions were in respect of a hearing involving the football administrators.<\/p>\n
\u201cI write to advise you that following the hearing, the Disciplinary Committee granted your request to file formal written submissions before it makes its determination in the matter,\u201d Nyirenda wrote on April 27, 2016.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have seven days from the date thereof to file your written submissions with the committee through the Fam secretariat.\u201d<\/p>\n
David Kanyenda, who is representing Mijiga and Somba Banda, confirmed that the association asked for the submissions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appeared before the committee and since the hearing, this is the first communication we have received from Fam. The bottom line is that the process is still on-going. The operative presumption of my clients part thereof is of innocence,\u201d Kanyenda explained.<\/p>\n
The three are accused of taking a football matter to an ordinary court of law, contrary to Fifa statutes. Fifa can impose sactions, such as bans from football, for those found at fault for such offences.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Yabwanya insists that he is innocent and that he will fight against what he perceives to be injustice. Banda denies being part of the injunction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
