{"id":23779,"date":"2016-05-05T11:34:48","date_gmt":"2016-05-05T09:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=23779"},"modified":"2016-05-05T11:34:48","modified_gmt":"2016-05-05T09:34:48","slug":"synod-fails-to-mediate-in-pp-wrangles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/05\/05\/synod-fails-to-mediate-in-pp-wrangles\/","title":{"rendered":"Synod fails to mediate in PP wrangles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) of Livingstonia Synod has failed to unite their Church Elder who is also former vice president Khumbo Kachali\u2019s camp with the current People\u2019s Party leadership of Uladi Mussa over their disagreements, <em>The Daily Times <\/em>has learnt.<\/p>\n<p>Livingstonia Synod General Secretary (GS) Reverend Levi Nyondo chairs the mediation committee but it has failed for three times because Mussa\u2019s camp reportedly shuns the meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Nyondo confirmed the attempts saying the synod is doing it to promote peace in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Leader of the delegation from Kachali\u2019s camp, Clive Nthakomwa told <em>The Daily Times <\/em>on Wednesday that they responded to the synod\u2019s calls for three times but their counterparts did not show up at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that Joyce Banda appointed Uladi Mussa as acting president, clearing the proposal we made on Kachali. Now how are we going to work with our friends without proper discussion that can unite us? Synod is our mother here in the North and they offered themselves to unite us but surprisingly, our colleagues in the other camp refused [to come],\u201d said Nthakomwa.<\/p>\n<p>Nyondo admitted that the synod is facing problems from Mussa\u2019s camp over the matter. He said the camp gives more excuses for failing to attend the meeting and that has discouraged him and Kachali\u2019s camp with doubt if the mediation team will yield any fruit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t know what to do because the other camp keeps on giving us excuses when we call them to start the meetings. We have tried our best but the other camp seems not interested. So we are quitting because it is not us suffering. Why always giving us excuses?\u201d Nyondo said.<\/p>\n<p>However, PP spokesperson, Ken Msonda, said the party did not receive any formal communication from the synod on the matter. He said if Nyondo was accusing them of shunning the meetings, he [Nyondo] was doing it from a personal point of view.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe respect all the synods in the country. Our secretariat has never received any communication asking for mediation. Those boys [Kachali camp] are our children; we know how to handle them.
