{"id":23409,"date":"2016-04-28T14:20:42","date_gmt":"2016-04-28T12:20:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=23409"},"modified":"2016-04-28T14:20:42","modified_gmt":"2016-04-28T12:20:42","slug":"stakeholders-to-discuss-health-sector-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/04\/28\/stakeholders-to-discuss-health-sector-problems\/","title":{"rendered":"Stakeholders to discuss health sector problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stakeholders in the health sector are Friday expected to convene in Lilongwe where they will discuss different issues bordering on how accountability in the health sector can be enhanced with the aim of ensuring that all Malawians have access to good quality health care.<\/p>\n<p>The stakeholders include government officials, health planners and professionals, representatives from Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs), the media and the donor community.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Health, Peter Kumpalume, will preside over the event known as \u2018Knowledge Cafe\u2019 which is being organised by an international development organisation called Options Consultancy Services Limited.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation operates three programmes in Malawi, supporting the health sector, working with district councils and the central government.<\/p>\n<p>According to a note from the organisation, the forum will, among others, involve discussions, debates and question and answer sessions to provoke thought and explore solutions to the challenges facing quality health service delivery in Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe forum promises to be innovative and stimulating so that it helps people think, discuss and come up with more actions that will help ensure that people in Malawi get access to the quality health services that they deserve,\u201d reads part of a notice of the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>It adds that since 2011, Options Consultancy Services Limited has been working closely with the Malawi government and NGO partners on a range of health sector programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne programme, the Results Based Financing for Maternal and Newborn Health (RBF4MNH) supports 33 hospitals and health centres in the country to provide quality maternal health care by providing cash incentives to pregnant women to give birth in the facilities, and bonus payments for the facilities based on their performance,\u201d it adds.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Ministry of Health, there are significant improvements in maternal health in the country largely because of initiatives by partners who continue to take issues to the grassroots.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stakeholders in the health sector are Friday expected to convene in Lilongwe where they will discuss different issues bordering on how accountability in the health sector can be enhanced with the aim of ensuring that all Malawians have access to good quality health care.
