{"id":23383,"date":"2016-04-28T13:19:12","date_gmt":"2016-04-28T11:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=23383"},"modified":"2016-04-28T13:19:12","modified_gmt":"2016-04-28T11:19:12","slug":"be-forward-wanderers-attack-referee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/04\/28\/be-forward-wanderers-attack-referee\/","title":{"rendered":"Be Forward Wanderers attack referee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Be Forward Wanderers have launched a scathing attack on referee, Fransisco Scova\u2019s alleged biased officiation during the Nomads\u2019 game against Dwangwa United at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>However, Wanderers General Secretary, Mike Butao, has\u2014 instead of contacting National Referees Association (NRA) which assigns referees through regional committees\u2014lodged a written complaint to Super League of Malawi (Sulom) and Football Association of Malawi (Fam) over Scova.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that much as us clubs have a responsibility to manage our games safely both on and off the pitch, the football governing bodies also share that responsibility and have the primary task of making the match environment conducive for the clubs to act responsibly,\u201d Butao explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that there are teams that deliberately manipulate the system to ensure they win and other teams lose, and influencing allocation of referees is one of their major tactics. We can only pray that Sulom and the referee\u2019s body have not fallen prey to such anti-football manipulators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Butao accused Scova of being a sympathiser of some big team. Wanderers were reportedly denied appeals for a penalty during the game, which ended 1-1.<\/p>\n<p>During post-match interviews, Wanderers Coach, Jack Chamangwana, attributed the draw to his charges\u2019 attitude.<\/p>\n<p>NFA General Secretary, Chris Kalichero, said yesterday that Wanderers should have directed their complaint to the association and copy to Fam and Sulom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScova is a Malawian and a well-known referee. However, let me not comment much because I have not seen the complaint. We will wait for a match commissioners\u2019 report for an independent opinion on the match,\u201d Kalichero said.<\/p>\n<p>Sulom General Secretary, Williams Banda, said yesterday Wanderers\u2019 complaint will be forwarded to NRA, which allocates referees.<\/p>\n<p>Scova has since welcomed the complaint, saying there are competent people who will establish the truth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that Wanderers will provide evidence for the allegations levelled against me,\u201d Scova said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Be Forward Wanderers have launched a scathing attack on referee, Fransisco Scova\u2019s alleged biased officiation during the Nomads\u2019 game against Dwangwa United at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
