{"id":23247,"date":"2016-04-26T13:08:52","date_gmt":"2016-04-26T11:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=23247"},"modified":"2016-04-26T13:08:52","modified_gmt":"2016-04-26T11:08:52","slug":"geophysical-data-attracts-investors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/04\/26\/geophysical-data-attracts-investors\/","title":{"rendered":"Geophysical data attracts investors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The gazetting of the high resolution geophysical data has seen an increase in the number of interested investors into the country.<\/p>\n<p>Department of Geological Survey Director Jalf Salima said the gazetting of the price schedule has boosted Malawi\u2019s attractiveness in terms of exploration and mining.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost companies are looking for data that they can use to identify exploration targets in a specific country. The airborne survey was a way of welcoming investors by the government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Salima said a lot of companies, both local and international, are coming forward to get the data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a lot of companies that have come forward. Currently I do not have the figure in my head but the response is very positive,\u201d said Salima.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe companies coming are those that are doing both exploration for mining licences and those that would like to identify areas of exploration,\u201d said Salima.<\/p>\n<p>He further said the data is not only for mining purposes but also for companies that are doing infrastructure development like construction of roads, bridges and dams.<\/p>\n<p>Salima also said those doing research are welcome to use the data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis data is a very positive step towards the development of geosciences in the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The gazetting of the high resolution geophysical data has seen an increase in the number of interested investors into the country.
