The circus surrounding transfers involving Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 players took another twist when the People\u2019s Team signed midfielder, Kondwani Kumwenda, who was reportedly off-loaded by the Nomads. Kumwenda joins Bullets on a three-year-deal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have indeed signed for Bullets as a free agent. They were the only team that showed interest to sign me after I was released by Wanderers. I am happy to have moved to Bullets,\u201d he said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The former Azam Tigers and Blantyre United midfielder also revealed that he had signed another deal with Bullets Technical Director, Billy Tewesa, to manage him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are from the same township in Ndirande and I know his abilities. He is well-connected and he can help me advance my career,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Tewesa said Kumwenda would provide options in Bullets\u2019 midfield.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are happy to secure his services for free,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Ironically, Kumwenda was a subject of a heated argument, which nearly forced Wanderers General Secretary, Mike Butao, to resign following an outburst with the Nomads\u2019 Supporters Chairperson, Yamikani Kaliyapa.<\/p>\n
Kaliyapa led a section of Wanderers supporters to confront Butao over the release of Kumwenda, who was deemed a surplus to requirements by the technical panel before the transfer deadline.<\/p>\n
Butao yesterday refused to comment on whether the Nomads had released Kumwenda.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s transfer window has seen Bullets and Wanderers engaging in verbal war following movement of players.<\/p>\n
Bullets set the ball rolling when they convinced striker Muhammad Sulumba to snub a permanent deal with Wanderers and sign for the People\u2019s Team.<\/p>\n
Wanderers hit back by signing midfielder-cum-striker, Jafali Chande, but the deal is far from being sealed following contractual disputes.<\/p>\n
