{"id":22988,"date":"2016-04-21T10:12:48","date_gmt":"2016-04-21T08:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=22988"},"modified":"2016-04-21T10:12:48","modified_gmt":"2016-04-21T08:12:48","slug":"national-bank-of-malawi-engages-pensioners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/04\/21\/national-bank-of-malawi-engages-pensioners\/","title":{"rendered":"National Bank of Malawi engages pensioners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has organised sensitisation meetings for its pensioners on new pension fund management practices.<\/p>\n<p>NBM pensions administration manager, William Mabulekesi, said the meetings will commence on April 25 in Blantyre and will thereafter be held countrywide.<\/p>\n<p>He said the stakeholders\u2019 meetings are aimed at fulfilling Section 67 of the Pensions Act 2010.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis section does not allow us as a company to manage pension funds of our employees. We would like to set the pace by complying with the law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mabulekesi said the section is not prohibitive as others may think, but rather it is aimed at protecting retirement benefits of the pensioners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe law protects the pensioners from losing their benefits in case the company they had been working for goes under or becomes bankrupt,\u201d said Mabulekesi.<\/p>\n<p>He said as a bank, they would like to give their pensioners an opportunity to make informed decisions on their funds.
