{"id":22918,"date":"2016-04-20T13:37:09","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T11:37:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=22918"},"modified":"2016-04-20T13:37:09","modified_gmt":"2016-04-20T11:37:09","slug":"nso-in-new-countrywide-household-welfare-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/04\/20\/nso-in-new-countrywide-household-welfare-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"NSO in new countrywide household welfare survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Statistical Office (NSO) has started assessing the welfare of Malawians through its fourth Integrated Household Survey (IHS4).<\/p>\n<p>The main objective of the survey is to provide up-to-date information on various aspects of welfare and socio-economic status of the population at various levels such as national; urban-rural; region and districts as well as disaggregated by gender.<\/p>\n<p>The survey comes at a time when Malawi\u2019s poverty is pegged at 50.7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>NSO said, in a statement yesterday, that the survey will be conducted for a period of one year from April 2016 to April 2017 in all districts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is aimed at collecting data that will be used to plan and implement activities to improve the standards of living [welfare] of the people in Malawi in line with Sustainable Development Goal number 1 which aims at ending poverty in all its forms everywhere,\u201d reads the NSO statement, in part.<\/p>\n<p>NSO conducts the surveys every five years.<\/p>\n<p>The first was conducted in 1990 followed by others in 1997, 2004 and 2010.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Statistical Office (NSO) has started assessing the welfare of Malawians through its fourth Integrated Household Survey (IHS4).
