A poetry feast dubbed Nthukutila ya Ndakatulo <\/em>excited the audience at Blantyre Cultural Centre (BCC) where comedian Andrea Thonyiwa alias Mr Jokes was the centre of attraction.<\/p>\n

It has been a long time since Mr Jokes performed at BCC and his entry which came late due to a prolonged lineup attracted cheers from the audience.<\/p>\n

Before his business of comics, Mr Jokes showed his dance moves as he danced to Zambian artist Mr Magigi\u2019s hit \u2018Nilibe Pulobulemu\u2019 and some young women joined him on stage.<\/p>\n

He then went on offering his act hitting at \u2018men of God\u2019 and Christians.<\/p>\n

Some of his jokes left the audience in stitches while others could not stand out as they were not fresh.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am excited to be back, of course it\u2019s been a long time but Mr Jokes is still active and there is more to come including a new movie I am working on,\u201d said Mr Jokes.<\/p>\n

It was a platform that also saw music performances that came from Neligo Women Choir, Joseph Chirwa, Eliza Mponya, Ronald Thamakera, Smack and Black Nina.<\/p>\n

While some musicians impressed the audience, others did not.<\/p>\n

Poet Sylvester Kalizang\u2019oma, who is spearheading Nthukutila ya Ndakatulo<\/em>, said they were happy with the turnout and the performances.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is just the beginning but more is coming. All we want is to uplift up and coming poets but also help uplift poetry complementing the works of Poetry Association of Malawi,\u201d said the \u2018Unkalindanji Moyo\u2019 star who also performed.<\/p>\n

But while appreciating the different talents, some people bemoaned the delays by the organisers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they had a long list and instead they just had too much, next time they should do better on the lineup to avoid delaying things,\u201d said Alfred Kampani.<\/p>\n

Other artists who performed on the day included Atcheya, dancers GYV and poets Luckier Chikopa, Kenneth Khondiwa, Samuel Joseph, Raphael Sitima, Yohane Pangani and Madalitso Nyambo, who was also the master of ceremonies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
