{"id":22754,"date":"2016-04-18T10:50:10","date_gmt":"2016-04-18T08:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=22754"},"modified":"2016-04-18T10:50:10","modified_gmt":"2016-04-18T08:50:10","slug":"fmb-in-blood-donation-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/04\/18\/fmb-in-blood-donation-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"FMB in blood donation drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi Stock Exchange listed commercial bank, FMB, on Saturday held a blood donation exercise in partnership with the Malawi Blood Transfusion Services (MBTS) which saw the bank\u2019s staff and other Blantyre residents donating.<\/p>\n<p>The bank organises a blood donation drive every three months in partnership with MBTS.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Marketing at FMB Sylvia Mataka said the initiative was part of the bank\u2019s commitment to create awareness among the public on the need for blood donation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is no longer a question of motivation, it is just a right thing to do,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mataka said the perpetual shortage of blood in hospitals could be addressed if players in the corporate world took part in such a drive.<\/p>\n<p>She faulted ignorance and lack of willingness on blood donation among the citizenry for the low supply in the hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery day there is somebody in the hospital getting a blood transfusion.
