{"id":22739,"date":"2016-04-18T10:33:49","date_gmt":"2016-04-18T08:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=22739"},"modified":"2016-04-18T10:33:49","modified_gmt":"2016-04-18T08:33:49","slug":"limbani-camps-in-zimbabwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/04\/18\/limbani-camps-in-zimbabwe\/","title":{"rendered":"Limbani camps in Zimbabwe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former national super welterweight champion, Limbani Masamba, is in Zimbabwe to prepare for the African Boxing Union (ABU) title fight against Congolese Mbiya Nkanku.<\/p>\n<p>The 12-round ABU title bout is expected to be held on May 14 during the closing day of World Boxing Council (WBC) convention at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>Masamba travelled to Zimbabwe alongside Anisha Basheer, who is expected to face Agness Mtimaukanena-Mwando in Malawi welterweight title fight on the ABU bill.<\/p>\n<p>The duo\u2019s management team, No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions\u2019 Managing Director, Craig Rousseau, said they were not taking the title fights lightly, hence the training in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pride of the nation is at stake. We are fighting at home and we need to do well to impress stakeholders. We feel that the training in Zimbabwe will help him to be in good shape,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, Masamba suffered a first loss in the professional ranks when he was knocked out in the third round by Nkanku during a non-title fight in Zambia three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Masamba and Basheer are camping at Delta Force Boxing Academy under the tutelage of Clyde Musonda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are sparring with the best and we are hoping that they will master what they are training,\u201d Musonda said.<\/p>\n<p>The WBC convention will also have seminars to equip administrators, managers, promoters and ringside officials with modern boxing skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former national super welterweight champion, Limbani Masamba, is in Zimbabwe to prepare for the African Boxing Union (ABU) title fight against Congolese Mbiya Nkanku.
