The Competition and Fair Trading Commission on Friday hosted a training workshop for staff at Carlsberg Malawi as part of the initiative to sensitise the corporate world on compliance to competition and fair trading regulations.<\/p>\n
CFTC director of mergers and acquisition Richard Chiputula said at the opening of the training that the commission had noted that some businesses remained non-compliant to the provisions of the competition and fair trading laws.<\/p>\n
He said CFTC has since decided to take a proactive approach by rolling out a training programme on competition and fair trading for players in the private sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have already conducted several workshops at a number of organisations to promote compliance to with the Competition and Fair Trading Act,\u201d said Chiputula.<\/p>\n
He said there was a need to address the gaps among businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis [competition and fair trading regulations] are relatively new in Malawi and we still have business players who are engaged in conduct that is not consistent with the law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On their part, Carlsberg Malawi company secretary, Chipi Kauka, said the firm was committed in ensuring a fair trading to its operations.<\/p>\n
