Malawi Defence Force (MDF) boxers, Osgood Kayuni and Salimu Chazama, have been earmarked for non-title international fights in Central Asian nation of Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n
Unlicensed matchmaker-cum-promoter, Steve Mawenzi Msiska, Tuesday said the two will first fight in Tanzania on May 11 before heading to Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n
Msiska said the fights in Uzbekistan were not dependent on the results in Tanzania.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are expecting to seal the agreement this week by signing the contract. We told them to include some clause in the contract, so we are waiting for an updated contract,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn Uzbekistan, Chazama will likely meet Behzod Nabiev as for Kayuni the promoter, was also contemplating on replacing him with Tanzanian boxer Mfaume.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kayuni\u2019s management team, Zama Boxing Promotions Managing Director, Precious Matipwili, said they were waiting for official communication for both boxers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not surprised with the offers. We are also highlighting our activities, including boxers through the website which is running temporarily before its launch. We have since asked Msiska to share us copy of an invitation as well as contract to push for Kayuni\u2019s clearance from his employers MDF,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
However, Chazama\u2019s promoter, Mike Chimaliza, of New Dawn Boxing Promotions, said the offers must be evaluated.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, we can take the Tanzania offer but to fight in Uzbekistan it is tricky. We need to safeguard our boxers. First we need to see the record of the opponents before committing ourselves,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
