Reunion Insurance Company has donated two 5000-litre water tanks to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.<\/p>\n
During the same visit, the company also donated assorted items to patients admitted in the hospital\u2019s Orthopaedic ward 6A.<\/p>\n
The donations are part of company\u2019s 10th anniversary celebrations. Reunion Insurance started its operations in the country on May 3, 2005.<\/p>\n
Speaking after making the donation, Reunion Insurance chief executive officer Dorothy Chapeyama said as the company celebrates ten years of existence, they thought of helping the hospital reduce the impact of water woes that frequently hit Blantyre.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we looked at all available options and tried to decide on the kind of donation to bring, we thought of donating water tanks after looking at the water problems that we are experiencing in Blantyre and we know that the hospital is also not spared,\u201d said Chapeyama.<\/p>\n
She said the problem of water at a healthy facility has more imprications than people can imagine.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are even thinking of donating more tanks in future,\u201d Chapeyama said.<\/p>\n
She said the company also donated assorted items to patients mostly admitted due to injuries sustained in various accidents because such patients seriously need the services of insurance companies.<\/p>\n
QECH Administrator Themba Mhango thanked Reunion Insurance for the donation, saying during the periods of critical water shortages, the hospital runs without water for hours or days which seriously affect operations, especially in the theatre and delivery wards.<\/p>\n
