Musician Moda Fumulani put up a spirited performance winning the hearts of sizeable audience during a concert organised by Wailing Brothers at Ozone Refreshment Centre in Machinjiri, Blantyre.<\/p>\n
This was the first performance for Wailing Brothers at Ozone Refreshment Centre since they launched their latest album Unfinished Project <\/em>at Robins Park in Blantyre in February.<\/p>\n The group has been holding performances in several places since the launch and at Ozone the revived Wailing Brothers, which was started by late Elias Chokani, made sure they offered the best.<\/p>\n The show started with performances from among others Arnold Fumulani and Young Generations famed for the hit \u2018Afiti Opemphera.\u2019<\/p>\n Then came Toza Matafale, a brother to late Evison Matafale, who also did his part before Wailing Brothers took over the stage with Chikumbutso Simbi leading in vocals.<\/p>\n Simbi has proved he has potential but he is still not yet experienced and yet to master fully the stage which appears too big and probably Wailing Brothers did a very great injustice in throwing him on a bigger platform very early.<\/p>\n They could have organised smaller concerts to build him.<\/p>\n He led in songs such as \u2018Mwatero Ndinu,\u2019 \u2018Levi,\u2019 and \u2018Sindidzakusiya,\u2019 while lead guitarist Takudziwani Chokani led in \u2018Afritune,\u2019 and Wailing Brothers proved to the audience they have good and talented instrumentalists which include Takudziwani\u2019s brother Paul, who plays the drums and bassist Ephraim Chambota.<\/p>\n But with the rich sound, some of their songs could not click in the hearts of the people.<\/p>\n Wailing Brothers left the stage for Moda, who from the word go brought people to the dance floor as they sang along to most of the songs.<\/p>\n Unlike during his stint with Black Missionaries where he used to warm the stage performing three to four songs, this time he performed several songs with people calling for more.<\/p>\n Through his performance he reminded the audience of his late brother Gift Fumulani\u2019s exploits.<\/p>\n Some of the songs he dished out were \u2018Loto La Faro,\u2019 and \u2018Tiye Kwathu.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cYou can see the difference, Moda Fumulani has moved through phases, he is experienced now and that is why he knows how to handle the stage. I think for me the one who is leading Wailing Brothers could have for now been playing as a backing vocalist with Moda as the front runner,\u201d said one of the fans.<\/p>\n Some even made suggestions during random interviews that the group should go with Moda Fumulani and The Wailing Brothers.<\/p>\n Moda said after the show that he was impressed with the support he received.<\/p>\n \u201cSince the Robins Park launch everything has been perfect. In the past some of the things were not coming out but now that I am with Wailing Brothers many things will come to light, we are working together and that includes the issue of an album. I just want to thank people for the support and God for the talent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Ozone Refreshment Centre proprietor Francis Gondwe said he was impressed with Wailing Brothers\u2019 performance and that as an entertainment centre, they will continue bringing different artists.<\/p>\n \u201cAll we want is for people to enjoy performances from different artists.
