Chilomoni Sisters perfectly executed revenge when they defeated Shizaella Sisters 53- 47 in extra time to lift Blantyre Urban Airtel Money netball championship at Blantyre Youth Centre on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The two teams also met last year at the same stage and venue. On Saturday, Chilomoni were in scintillating form, leading the first quarter 10-9, while Shizaella led 19-18 at half time.<\/p>\n
The third quarter ended 31- 29 in favour of Shizaella. The fourth and tense quarter saw Chilomoni starting strongly to open a four-basket lead, but Shizaella equalised to force the game into extra time. Shizaella eventually lost 53-47.<\/p>\n
In a third-place battle, Izoizo humbled Nyambadwe Queens 43-31.<\/p>\n
Chilomoni senior player, Linda Kaponda, said it was a difficult game as both sides had a point to prove.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe felt that their win last year was a fluke so we wanted to prove that we are a better team,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Blantyre and Districts Netball Committee Vice-Chairperson, Isaac Chimwala, encouraged Chilomoni and Shizaella to impress during regional finals.<\/p>\n
He also thanked senior netball figures, including Malawi Queens Coach Peace Chawinga- Kalua, Vice-Coach Mary Waya, Netball Association of Malawi Technical Director, Griffin Saenda and Tigresses Assistant Coach Charles Mhango for gracing the finals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
