Parliamentarian, Willet Karonga and Hariet Mariani, underlined their top form to win NBS Monthly Mug in their respective categories at Country Club Limbe on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Karonga posted a net score of 69 points to emerge champion in the men\u2019s category, followed by Shad Chikusilo on second position with a net score 71.<\/p>\n
Country Club Limbe Golf Captain, Yotamu Saka, was third with a net score of 72.<\/p>\n
In the ladies\u2019 category, Mariani was outstanding after scoring a net of 75 to beat second-placed Doreen Kavala, who had a net of 78 points.<\/p>\n
In the individual category, Harold Lungu won the longest drive on hole number five while Chadwick Phande won the nearest to the pin on hole 13.<\/p>\n
The ladies\u2019 champion, Mariani, said despite playing under scorching sun, she was composed and calm.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was relaxed and I did not let it [weather] affect my morale. My performance was awesome and I had about seven bogies,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
NBS Chief Finance Officer, Dumisani Chatima, said they were impressed by the turn up of 62 golfers.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn our part, we are also trying our best because we are giving them glittering prizes as well to inspire them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
