Malawi Defence Force (MDF) boxer, Osgood Kayuni, made a sweet comeback onto the international stage when he defeated Tanzanian, Moses Mwalwanda, during an international non-title bout at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The international fight, which was marred by darkness towards the last two rounds, attracted a huge crowd.<\/p>\n
After eight rounds of intensive fighting, Kayuni was declared the winner through a unanimous decision.<\/p>\n
All three judges scored in favour of the Malawian boxer.<\/p>\n
The judges scored 80-78, 80-72 and 78-74 in favour of Kayuni.<\/p>\n
It was Kayuni\u2019s first international bout since 2014.<\/p>\n
Before the bout, the boxers had promised a knock-out, but Kayuni was the dominant force in the ring as he unleashed a flurry of punches throughout the bout.<\/p>\n
Most of Kayuni\u2019s punches were on target, and he showed his excellence in the ring.<\/p>\n
However, the victory did not come on a silver platter as the Tanzanian boxer proved, on numerous occasions, that he was a quality fighter.<\/p>\n
The loss was Mwalwanda\u2019s first in nine bouts having won eight and a single draw, whereas Kayuni has won 24 bouts, five losses and three draws.<\/p>\n
In his victory speech, Kayuni said it was a deserved victory.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a sweet victory for me after a long time without an international bout. I prepared well for the fight and I am pleased with my performance,\u201d Kayuni said.<\/p>\n
On his part, Mwalwanda conceded defeat and praised his opponent, but said he was looking for a rematch.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe (Kayuni) is a good boxer, but Malawians are yet to see the real Moses. I am ready for a rematch anytime soon and I will teach him some boxing lessons,\u201d Mwalwanda said.<\/p>\n
In the main supporting bout, promising boxer, Kudakwache Nkhakamila Banda, continued his good record when he knocked down Ayuda.<\/p>\n
Brian Mwando defeated Mussa Mkwanda.<\/p>\n
