Local car rental company Avis Malawi has entered into a license agreement with world car hire giant Avis Budget group which will see the Malawi company re-branding to Avis Budget Malawi.<\/p>\n
The agreement follows an extension of Avis Budget group\u2019s services to Barloworld Limited which operates the Avis Car Rental brand in Southern Africa.<\/p>\n
Avis Budget group operates in 175 countries and 10,000 locations across the globe.<\/p>\n
Avis Malawi chief executive officer Iqbar Omar said in an interview the agreement will help market Malawi\u2019s tourism to the rest of the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to adopt the Budget brand which is among the biggest in the world,\u201d said Omar, adding: \u201cThis license agreement will help in our expansion drive.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the agreement will also make it possible for Avis Malawi to offer a wide range of products with a flexible rate policy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Budget brand has the leisure market as its main target, so Malawians can be rest assured that the country\u2019s tourism industry will benefit,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be a large influx of inbound traffic from the Avis Budget locations across the world into Malawi,\u201d said Omar.<\/p>\n
He said as a result of the agreement, Avis Malawi will invest K500 million to rebrand and expand its fleet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
