At a time when Nyasa Big Bullets seemed shaken with players\u2019 contractual issues, the People\u2019s Team has breathed a sigh of relief after tying down goalkeeper, Owen Chaima and returning defender, George Nyirenda to contracts.<\/p>\n
The former Zimbabwe\u2019s Caps United man, Nyirenda has signed a two-year contract, while Chaima\u2014who was linked with several clubs\u2014has renewed his deal by three years.<\/p>\n
The development comes when last season\u2019s Player of-the Season and leading goal scorer, Chiukepo Msowoya, has reportedly rebuffed a contract renewal with Bullets.<\/p>\n
Apparently, midfielder-cum-striker, Jaffalie Chande took advantage of a lapse in contractual discussions to ditch Bullets and sign for their sworn rivals, Be Forward Wanderers.<\/p>\n
Bullets board of trustees general secretary, Jim Kalua, said they stepped in to ensure that Nyirenda and Chaima signed the contracts.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe [Nyirenda] had a lot of offers, but his priority remained at Bullets. On the other hand, Owen [Chaima] also attracted serious offers, including from teams in Mozambique. But he, too, has decided to extend his contract by three years, meaning that he will be with us up to 2019,\u201d Kalua said.<\/p>\n
Kalua said they would work jointly with the main executive to ensure that contractual issues are settled at Bullets.<\/p>\n
