The Lakeshore districts of Nkhata Bay and Nkhotakota in the Northern and Central regions, respectively, will this weekend be centres of attraction as far as entertainment is concerned.<\/p>\n
Nkhotakota will play host to what is dubbed the Nkhotakota Music Festival set to be held Saturday.<\/p>\n
This is not the first time the festival is taking place in the district, it has been there only that it has not been publicised.<\/p>\n
The festival will bring on board several activities aimed at uplifting arts and culture including performances from singer and guitarist Faith Mussa and Konkalazi.<\/p>\n
Nkhata Bay will stage the Easter Beach Festival to be held on Sunday at Chikale Beach.<\/p>\n
The organisers of the Easter Beach Festival have since said they are set for the event and that people are in for a treat.<\/p>\n
The organisers Smooth Touch Promotions in conjunction with Active X Entertainment also said that musician Billy Kaunda will be part of the performers.<\/p>\n
Kaunda has replaced Mlaka Maliro, who was billed to perform but will not make it.<\/p>\n
The other artists set to entertain people at the Easter Beach Festival are Piksy, Maskal, Bucci, Blaze, Moses Makawa, P-Nice, Jamaco and Blackface.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll is set for the festival but Mlaka will not be available and that is why we have brought in Billy Kaunda,\u201d said Godfrey Kachimanga of Active X Entertainment.<\/p>\n
He said Kaunda is one of the talented musicians the country has ever produced and that they were happy that he has accepted to perform at the festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to have Kaunda and then we also have Piksy and Maskal so it will be fun. This is just the beginning but there is more to come, we want the Northern Region to experience more fun,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kaunda famed for hits such as \u2018Mwapindulanji,\u2019 said he was ready for the festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have talked to the organisers and so yes I will perform at the festival and I am prepared,\u201d said the \u2018Agalatiya Mwataya Chipangano,\u2019 star.<\/p>\n
The musician late last year also spiced up Great Angels Choir shows where he excited the audience.<\/p>\n
Smooth Touch Promotions and Active X Entertainment will also be the main organisers of the Likoma Festival scheduled for October 14- 16, 2016.<\/p>\n
Kachimanga said the Easter Beach Party was just adding up to the several other celebrations of arts and culture with a strong focus on artists and traditional dances from Malawi and where possible rest of Africa.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want through this event to take Malawians and visitors to different places in Malawi, places they have never been to or heard of. In a nutshell our main goal is to promote tourism and culture,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
As of Wednesday Kachimanga said they had finalised almost everything ahead of the festival.<\/p>\n
Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Mwanyongo said the festival will start off with pre-events tomorrow that will feature disco among others.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis festival is unique and it is giving a chance to people in the northern region to have fun. Many of the festivals have only targeted the central and southern regions.<\/p>\n
Again the focus when it comes to the lake by many organisers has been Salima and Mangochi so we want people to have fun in Nkhata Bay,\u201d said Mwanyongo.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cwe would like to thank organisations for their support and all we are saying is that this is a serious event and we started planning it long time ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
