{"id":21163,"date":"2016-03-22T12:55:37","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T10:55:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=21163"},"modified":"2016-03-22T12:55:37","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T10:55:37","slug":"morgan-heritage-concert-to-be-held-at-civo-stadium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/03\/22\/morgan-heritage-concert-to-be-held-at-civo-stadium\/","title":{"rendered":"Morgan Heritage concert to be held at Civo Stadium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Born Afrikan Productions led by South African-based musician and promoter Born Afrikan real name Nelson Shawa has said that the Morgan Heritage concert will be held at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on April 30.<\/p>\n<p>The news is a sigh of relief to the fans after Born Afrikan recently announced that they would not be holding the concert at Silver Stadium due to renovations.<\/p>\n<p>But now it is confirmed that the concert will be held at Civo Stadium after Born Afrikan posted the information on his Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p>In a telephone interview from South Africa yesterday Born Afrikan said all was set for the concert which he described as a feast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe concert is on at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe. This is part of a tour by Morgan Heritage for their <em>Strictly Roots <\/em>album,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The musician, who gave an electric performance during the first show, said he will not be performing this time around but he said the line-up is good.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis time around as a business person as well I will only be involved in organisation but everything is set as I said. We will have early bird tickets selling at K8,000 and then from there the price will go up. All we want is for people to come in large numbers and be part of this concert,\u201d said Born Afrikan.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the second time for the Jamaican Grammy Award winning group to perform in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Their debut performance was in December last year at Silver Stadium where they disappointed people after they performed using a CD.<\/p>\n<p>Fans, who had waited for hours for the group to come on stage walked out after the group performed using backtracks.<\/p>\n<p>The fans had also hoped that the whole band would be available but only three members namely Peter Morgan, Gramps Morgan and Mr Mojo made it.<\/p>\n<p>However, the trio told the audience in December that the first performance was just an appetiser and that they would come back to perform live with the whole band.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just an appetiser but we will come back with a full band next year (2016),\u201d said Peter during the show at Silver Stadium which attracted an impressive audience.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the local artists expected to share the stage with the Jamaican reggae group are Tay Grin, Soul Raiders, Black Missionaries, Blasto and Nepman.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan Heritage is a reggae band formed in 1994 by five children of reggae artist Denroy Morgan, namely Peter \u201cPeetah\u201d Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy \u201cGramps\u201d Morgan, Nakhamyah \u201cLukes\u201d Morgan and Memmalatel \u201cMr. Mojo\u201d Morgan.<\/p>\n<p>In two decades, the band has had a number of successful reggae albums.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Born Afrikan Productions led by South African-based musician and promoter Born Afrikan real name Nelson Shawa has said that the Morgan Heritage concert will be held at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on April 30.
