{"id":21148,"date":"2016-03-22T12:44:30","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T10:44:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=21148"},"modified":"2016-03-22T12:44:30","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T10:44:30","slug":"nanzikambe-to-premiere-new-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/03\/22\/nanzikambe-to-premiere-new-play\/","title":{"rendered":"Nanzikambe to premiere new play"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nanzikambe Arts Production in Collaboration with Compagnie Hertzblut (Germany\/Switzerland) will premiere a new play titled <em>Ku Kabula<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ku Kabula <\/em>is a theatre, music and dance play that among others, features former Fikisa members Saidi and Selemani Yusuf and dancers Joshua Bhima and Robert Magasa.<\/p>\n<p>One of the actors starring in the production said they started rehearsing the piece in November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ready for the performance which will take us places. But then we are starting at Chingalire Rural Growth Centre in Lilongwe on Easter Saturday and then Easter Monday at Manase Gardens in Blantyre before taking it to Mzuzu on April 1 and 2 and Zomba on April 8.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe actually have been invited to Norway and Cameroun for festivals and then we will also tour Germany and Switzerland,\u201c said Mjumira, who has starred in several of Nanzikambe\u2019s productions.<\/p>\n<p>He said this is the first production for Nanzikambe in the year 2016 and said people should look foward to more productions.<\/p>\n<p>Uwe Schuran, a director from Germany, who is fascinated by Malawi -Warm Heart of Africa, created the production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI devised the piece and through this production we want to tell a story about Malawi and that is why its titled <em>Ku Kabula<\/em>. I have fallen in love with Malawi and I want it to be known to the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Schuran observed that there are people who have confused Malawi for Mali.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMalawi is a country which is facing lots of challenges but despite all this, people still smile and this is the story I want to tell the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Schuran said he was optimistic that people will love the piece just as he have enjoyed putting it together and that it is even more interesting in that it combines music, dance and theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Other actors starring in the play which also seeks to expose the country\u2019s culture include Allen Tepelunde, Cynthia Zonde and Carol Zulu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nanzikambe Arts Production in Collaboration with Compagnie Hertzblut (Germany\/Switzerland) will premiere a new play titled Ku Kabula.
