Central Health Lilongwe and District Netball League (LDNL) has gathered momentum with teams engaging an extra gear, four weeks into the new season.<\/p>\n
Teams are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for top positions with giants, Blue Eagles Sisters and Civonets dominant.<\/p>\n
The two giants are teaching some netball lessons to smaller teams in the league.<\/p>\n
After four weeks of action, Eagles lead the league with 12 points at par with Civonets, but the police outfit has a superior goal difference. Mafco are third with eight points.<\/p>\n
LDNL chairperson, Charity Malanga, said teams had engaged an extra gear while battling for top positions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have watched exciting netball since the league stared. Teams are now in shape and we believe we will identify more good players this season,\u201d Malanga said.<\/p>\n
Central Health representative, Sarah Bauleni, said they were overwhelmed by the response from the teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cTeams are playing well and the patronage has also been encouraging. We are happy that a lot of girls and women are now aware of the cervical cancer through the messages that we are disseminating during the league games,\u201d Bauleni said.<\/p>\n
A total of 20 teams are playing in the league, which is being sponsored by Central Health Limited, Women\u2019s Clinic to the tune of K2.5 million.<\/p>\n
The sponsorship aims at developing netball while also promoting awareness about cervical cancer screening and vaccine for girls through the league\u2019s ambassador, Takondwa Lwazi, of Blue Eagles Sisters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
