Telecom Networks Malawi (TNM) has donated K1.8 million towards this year\u2019s St. Patrick\u2019s Day celebrations scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 19 at Sunbird Capital Lilongwe to the value of K1.8 million.<\/p>\n
St. Patrick\u2019s Day is a global celebration of the Irish Culture and it\u2019s celebrated annually.<\/p>\n
Presenting the sponsorship, TNM\u2019s head of Lilongwe region, Danny Malisita said TNM, as a truly Malawian network, values cultural preservation hence its contribution towards the St. Patrick\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a patriotic Malawian brand we are always committed to support cultural per s ever a t ion hence our contribution to this important event,\u201d said Malisita.<\/p>\n
Receiving the donation member of the Irish Society in Malawi Lucy Hayes hailed TNM for the sponsorship saying it will go a long way in ensuring the success of this year\u2019s celebration.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn behalf of the organising committee, I would like to commend TNM for this huge sponsorship it will really help us to make the event memorable,\u201d said Hayes.<\/p>\n
She said St. Patrick\u2019s Day began as a religious feast day but has now become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a very special night of traditional Irish music and dancing. The event is an opportunity to bring people from Malawi, Ireland and other nationalities together. We have brought a traditional Irish band, Flat Out to spice the event.\u201d<\/p>\n
Proceeds from the event will be donated to a charity, Organisation for Career Guidance. The day falls on March 17, but the major celebration in Malawi will be hosted on Saturday. The event is celebrated in cities and towns across the globe with the St Patrick\u2019s Day symbol of the shamrock.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
