Malawi\u2019s installment of Confederation of African Football (Caf)- certified coaches\u2019 instructors is set to increase as former Flames team manager, Stuart Mbolembole, has passed the test to undergo the Caf instructors\u2019 course in Cameroon at the end of the month.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very encouraging for me because I have been going around the country training coaches at the lower level. It is a motivation to get selected for the high-level course because it offers me the opportunity to upgrade and train top coaches,\u201d said Mbolembole from his residence in Dowa.<\/p>\n
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) sent to Caf three shortlisted coaches but, according to the association\u2019s general secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda, Mbolembole made it.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has been involved in teaching coaches for a long time, therefore, Caf has shortlisted him to represent Malawi during the course. We expect to get the full documents from Caf on the recommendation by Friday this week,\u201d Nyirenda said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He said the development was a boost to Malawi\u2019s efforts to have highly-qualified coaches because Mbolembole would now upgrade to a level where he would teach top level coaches.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe course has come at the right time. He would now be able to train coaches at the Caf B level. We need more highly-qualified instructors to have quality coaches if our standards of football are to improve. Last year, we sent Benjamin Kumwenda and now, with the going of Mbolembole, we are making progress,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Fam technical director, John Kaputa, said Malawi has five Caf instructors: Kumwenda, Karen Chawura, Maggie Chombo-Sadiki, Eddington Ng\u2019onamo and Kaputa himself.<\/p>\n
The course is set to run from March 29 to April 2.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Mbolembole said he was pleased with the opportunity handed to him. Malawi is implementing Club Licensing System, whose priorities include having highly-qualified coaches in all major leagues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
