Mzuzu University (Mzuni) Football Club will hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) Friday to elect new executive members, discuss last year\u2019s expenditure and scrutinise this year\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s chairperson, Albert Harawa, on Tuesday said the meeting would take place at the campus.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe now have a new constitution that was passed last Friday during the assembly that was aimed at ratifying the old constitution, which gave powers to the committee to hold the positions for a year. Members then proposed that a year was little time for them to deliver,\u201d Harawa said.<\/p>\n
Harawa said the elections were scheduled for last month, but delayed because the draft constitution was awaiting the Vice- Chancellor\u2019s approval. The new term of office is two years.<\/p>\n
\u201cOther candidates have already started campaigning for the posts they are vying for, but we are still receiving nomination letters from those that wish to contest. However, the race is open only to Mzuzu University staff and students. We are planning that, in future, we should extend the participation to other individual who are not staff members, but like the team and assist us so much,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The chairperson said most of the current executive committee members have expressed interest in contesting and have paid the nomination fees of K25, 000 for the chairperson and K15,000 for the vice chairman.<\/p>\n
On preparations for the 2016 TNM Super League, Harawa said all is progressing smoothly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are about to finish discussions with Silver Strikers on the transfer of their midfielder, Lazarous Nyemera, and goalkeeper, Dailesi Yasin, who are in our camp.
