{"id":20695,"date":"2016-03-15T09:28:21","date_gmt":"2016-03-15T07:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=20695"},"modified":"2016-03-15T09:28:21","modified_gmt":"2016-03-15T07:28:21","slug":"cear-gets-nine-new-passenger-coaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/03\/15\/cear-gets-nine-new-passenger-coaches\/","title":{"rendered":"Cear gets nine new passenger coaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Central East African Railways (Cear) has received nine new state-of-the-art passenger coaches which will help improve rail transport services.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Liwonde when welcoming the coaches from South Africa, Cear public relations officer, Chisomo Mwamadi, said the company has spent a total of K1.87 billion on the acquisition of the coaches.<\/p>\n<p>He said the coaches are part of a consignment bought from Transnet in South Africa in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe already received six in 2014 and these are additional ones which have come together with a power car where we have a generator. The delay was due to logistics and the coaches had to be refurbished,\u201d said Mwamadi.<\/p>\n<p>He said the new coaches will be officially commissioned in the next two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Mwamadi said the coming in of the new coaches will improve the quality of the company\u2019s services as Cear will remove all the old coaches from service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis means we have increased our capacity and quality in the passenger train area,\u201d said Mwamadi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Central East African Railways (Cear) has received nine new state-of-the-art passenger coaches which will help improve rail transport services.
