Malawi national handball team has been invited to this year\u2019s International Handball Federation (IHF) Africa Challenge Trophy in South Africa.<\/p>\n
The tournament will take place from July 23 to 29, featuring male and female teams from all African countries.<\/p>\n
Malawi will b e represented by Under-20 teams in both categories.<\/p>\n
According to Malawi Handball Federation general secretary, Dennis Kumwenda, the association has started preparations for the tournament.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an association, we have requested all the regional committees to organise tournaments to identify best athletes. Thereafter, we shall hold a national championship to choose the national team to represent Malawi in South Africa,\u201d Kumwenda explained.<\/p>\n
The national team is expected to start full-time camp training in July.<\/p>\n
Kumwenda disclosed that Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) has set aside K1million to assist the association in the preparations.<\/p>\n
IHF will provide transport, food and accommodation for the participating nations.<\/p>\n
Kumwenda, however, appealed to the corporate world to help the association.<\/p>\n
In the previous edition held in Lusaka, Zambia in 2014, Malawi team finished on position four and five in male and female categories respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
