I am happy to inform you that the plans you gave us have provided strategic directions over the years. The implementation of the Strategic Plan is now midway hence the need for us to come back to you for feedback to ensure that we do not lose track,” Chauluka said.

He said during this period TEVETA has undergone major transformation processes in terms of visibility, institutional growth, advocacy and policy influence and programming.

Among other achievements, Chauluka cited issuing of Malawi TEVET Certificates to over 5,000 graduates and induction of 1,681 apprentices and 858 trainers at both institution and industry level on Competence Based Education Training (CBET) approach and attachment of 3,645 apprentices and 60 trainers to industry.

Chauluka informed the gathering that his organisation is rolling out a US$5 million project which he said will go a long way in equipping the youth in the country with relevant skills.

In his contribution Managing Director of PUMA, David Lanjesi, who was involved in the formulation of the Strategic Plan, hailed the contribution that TEVETA has made over the years towards skills development to the nation but called upon TEVETA to instill ethics in TEVET graduates to ensure good conduct when they go to the industry.

“We need ethics among students.
