{"id":20203,"date":"2016-03-07T11:21:23","date_gmt":"2016-03-07T09:21:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=20203"},"modified":"2016-03-07T11:21:23","modified_gmt":"2016-03-07T09:21:23","slug":"james-chimwaza-triumphs-in-nico-seniors-golf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/03\/07\/james-chimwaza-triumphs-in-nico-seniors-golf\/","title":{"rendered":"James Chimwaza triumphs in Nico Seniors golf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the revival of seniors\u2019 golf in the country continues, former Golf Union of Malawi president, James Chimwaza, rekindled his glory days when he won a second edition of seniors\u2019 golf tournament at Country Club Limbe on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Nico General Insurance-sponsored tournament attracted 83 golfers, 20 of them the seniors.<\/p>\n<p>Fourteen-handicap Chimwaza posted a net of 73 points to beat second-placed John Magombo, who counted out Tony Kandiero on a net of 77.<\/p>\n<p>Chimwaza thanked Nico General for the sponsorship, saying it was a big motivation to the seniors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe seniors uphold the integrity of the game, therefore, it is a pleasure to get such an honour. We hope to have more tournaments this year so that seniors\u2019 golf can be revived,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nico General Insurance chief executive officer, Eric Chapola, said sponsoring seniors\u2019 golf was good for the sport and business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of these senior golfers are senior company managers that have good connections.
