{"id":20191,"date":"2016-03-07T11:03:33","date_gmt":"2016-03-07T09:03:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=20191"},"modified":"2016-03-07T11:03:33","modified_gmt":"2016-03-07T09:03:33","slug":"standard-bank-looks-at-2016-with-optimism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/03\/07\/standard-bank-looks-at-2016-with-optimism\/","title":{"rendered":"Standard Bank looks at 2016 with optimism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the economic challenges the country is facing, Standard Bank remains hopeful that things would get better.<\/p>\n<p>Standard Bank Malawi chief financial officer Temwani Simwaka was speaking in Blantyre on Friday during a breakfast the bank hosted for 25 outstanding employees and their spouses.<\/p>\n<p>The employees were flown from Lilongwe for an adventurous trip which took them to Game Haven in Thyolo in zomba as to Ku Chawe, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Simwaka said the challenging environment the country is passing through also provides an opportunity for the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>She cited the agricultural, energy as well as mining sectors as some of the areas that could help jump-start the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course the operating environment remains tough but it also presents numerous opportunities which should be exploited,\u201d said Simwaka.<\/p>\n<p>She said the bank, with its hard working and dedicated workforce, is optimistic of meeting its targets for the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really value our workforce which is key to the attainment of our goals,\u201d said Simwaka.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the economic challenges the country is facing, Standard Bank remains hopeful that things would get better.
