{"id":20147,"date":"2016-03-05T09:12:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-05T07:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=20147"},"modified":"2016-03-05T09:12:00","modified_gmt":"2016-03-05T07:12:00","slug":"copa-coke-talent-flows-to-district-finals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/03\/05\/copa-coke-talent-flows-to-district-finals\/","title":{"rendered":"Copa Coke talent flows to district finals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The race for this year\u2019s Copa Coca-Cola Malawi Schools Sports Association (Massa) Under-15 championship takes a decisive turn this weekend during district finals to involve 144 schools Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Copa Coca-Cola senior brands manager, Titha Mbilizi, said they were excited to reach this stage having been supporting the grassroots competition since 1968.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the longest running sponsorship targeting Under-15 football talent in the country. Our registration this year reached 1,550 teams (that\u2019 27,900 young football players) taking part,\u201d she said, adding that they have put measures to curb age-cheating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have different strategies to curb age-cheating, including continuous screening of the students during games. We are also working with the teachers of the participating schools to continue assisting Massa with adherence to age.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mbilizi said in 2015 Copa products from Malawi, Allan Mkochi and Collins Msuku, travelled to Germany for an international camp.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the same year, a Malawi select team travelled to South Africa for a five-day International Africa Camp to forge friendships and gain valuable skills both on and off the pitch,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The race for this year\u2019s Copa Coca-Cola Malawi Schools Sports Association (Massa) Under-15 championship takes a decisive turn this weekend during district finals to involve 144 schools Saturday and Sunday.
