{"id":19952,"date":"2016-03-02T12:50:29","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T10:50:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=19952"},"modified":"2016-03-02T12:50:29","modified_gmt":"2016-03-02T10:50:29","slug":"blantyre-women-trained-in-entrepreneurial-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/03\/02\/blantyre-women-trained-in-entrepreneurial-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"Blantyre women trained in entrepreneurial skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Elderly People\u2019s Association has asked lending institutions in the country to soften up borrowing conditions for small scale businesswomen to enable them access loans.<\/p>\n<p>Elderly People\u2019s Association executive director, Hellen Chasowa, said this Monday in Blantyre when she opened a day-long seminar for small scale business women in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar was attended by 30 participants, including some prominent business people in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Chasowa said the aim of the seminar was to share entrepreneurial skills among members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople fail to access loans from the banks because they ask for collateral in form of houses or any property that ordinary rural women cannot afford. Even the interest rates are exorbitant. We, therefore, plead with the lending institutions to soften their conditions,\u201d Chasowa said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the same function, Ntonya International School proprietor, Gloria Mankhwala \u2013 who was one of the facilitators, urged women to entrepreneurs to take businesses seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusiness needs to have a sober mind and requires determination.
