{"id":19771,"date":"2016-02-29T11:02:22","date_gmt":"2016-02-29T09:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=19771"},"modified":"2016-02-29T11:02:22","modified_gmt":"2016-02-29T09:02:22","slug":"ugi-in-afforestation-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/02\/29\/ugi-in-afforestation-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"UGI in afforestation campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local insurance company UGI has committed to continue undertaking reforestation initiatives in the country as part of its corporate social responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>UGI business development manager, Atupele Mangochi, made the pledge on the sidelines of a tree planting exercise the company held at Chigumukile Primary School in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>Mangochi said the exercise is part of the company\u2019s drive to plant over 3 000 seedlings in the district before extending the initiative to other parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a fulfillment of one of UGI\u2019s objectives that focus on the environment,\u201d said Mangochi.<\/p>\n<p>She said by planting the trees, the firm has taken part in the restoring the lost glory of nature.<\/p>\n<p>At the school, UGI in partnership with the Wildlife and Environment Society of Malawi (WESM) planted over 1000 seedlings.<\/p>\n<p>Another 2000 would be planted around the district before extending the drive to other parts of the country, according to Mangochi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Local insurance company UGI has committed to continue undertaking reforestation initiatives in the country as part of its corporate social responsibility.
