Super League champions, Nyasa Big Bullets, have cancelled plans to hold a week-long training camp in Nchalo in preparation for Nyasa Challenge Cup next week against Zimbabwe\u2019s Dynamos FC.<\/p>\n
Bullets have cancelled the camp training due to financial challenges. Bullets host Dynamos on Saturday and Sunday in Blantyre and Lilongwe respectively.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s vice-general secretary, Kelvin Moyo, Sunday said the club would remain in Blantyre due to cost implications of settling down in the Shire Valley.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe really wanted the camp to have good preparations for the two crucial games. But we have changed the plans due to the cost of camping. We could not do otherwise,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Bullets have instead intensified their training sessions from one to two per day. Camping in Nchalo would have cost Bullets some K2 million.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Dynamos are set to arrive in the country on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey will bring two teams. One will play in Blantyre and the fresh team will play in Lilongwe in the subsequent match,\u201d Moyo explained.<\/p>\n
Bullets would cater for Dynamos\u2019 travel and accommodation costs, but the host club had not yet finalised the budget for hosting the Zimbabwe side.<\/p>\n
Gate charges at both venues are K1,000 for open stands, K2,000 for MBC stand, K3,000 for covered stands and K5,000 for VIP stand.<\/p>\n
Bullets\u2019 finance and fundraising committee chairperson, Isaac Norman, said the club would also sell broadcasting rights to media institutions to maximise on revenue collection.<\/p>\n
\u201cBullets is a big team, therefore, it has a lot of needs. Even though we have good sponsorship from Nyasa Manufacturing Company, we still need to generate more revenue to help the club cover other operational costs. We urge football-loving Malawians to patronise these matches well to help the club generate revenue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
There is no prize money for the Nyasa Challenge Cup, but the overall winner over the two ties will receive a trophy.<\/p>\n
The competition would be a litmus test for the league champions who have employed a new coach Franco Ndawa to lead the Bullets\u2019 ship in the 2016 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
