{"id":19596,"date":"2016-02-25T12:18:20","date_gmt":"2016-02-25T10:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=19596"},"modified":"2016-02-25T12:18:20","modified_gmt":"2016-02-25T10:18:20","slug":"cftc-approves-msb-fdh-merger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/02\/25\/cftc-approves-msb-fdh-merger\/","title":{"rendered":"CFTC approves MSB, FDH merger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Close to a year after, purchase of a majority shares in the then government-owned Malawi Savings Bank (MSB) by FDH Financial Holdings Limited, the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has approved the merger of MSB and FDH Bank which became necessary following the deal.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement published in the press on Wednesday, FDH holdings chief executive officer Thomson Mpinganjira said following the merger, FDH Holdings will now proceed with the process of integrating MSB with FDH Bank in accordance with a directive of the registrar of financial institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Mpinganjira said the merger will create one of the most innovative financial solution providers in the industry that will provide financial solutions to banking customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe combination of the two banks will also offer unique banking experience through home grown and home bred solutions that suit the Malawian market,\u201d said Mpinganjira.<\/p>\n<p>He said in order to contribute to the economic development of Malawi, the FDH and MSB merger will pursue a business strategy that contributes to building a profitable and sustainable business.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Close to a year after, purchase of a majority shares in the then government-owned Malawi Savings Bank (MSB) by FDH Financial Holdings Limited, the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has approved the merger of MSB and FDH Bank which became necessary following the deal.
