Some 20 teams have confirmed their participation in K2.5 million Central Health Limited Lilongwe and District Netball League (LDNL), which was officially launched on Sunday at Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
Last week, the company signed a sponsorship agreement with LDNL, ending a five-year sponsorship drought.<\/p>\n
The league will be played for six months. The sponsors through the league\u2019s ambassador, Takondwa Lwazi, will be disseminating messages of cervical cancer screening and prevention.<\/p>\n
LDNL chairperson, Charity Malanga, said the league has received an overwhelming response from the teams following the sponsorship.<\/p>\n
In her remarks, Netball Association of Malawi (Nam), president Rosy Chinunda, applauded Central Health Limited, Women Clinic for rescuing the league.<\/p>\n
Chinunda, who graced the launch on Sunday, said her association would assist all the regional leagues to safeguard the sponsorships.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Nam, we appeal to all companies to emulate the gesture shown by Central Health Limited. We believe the sponsorship would expose many players for the national team,\u201d Chinunda said.<\/p>\n
Central Health Limited, marketing coordinator, Simon Sichone, said the company would introduce player- of-month accolade to motivate the players in the league.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe anticipate an exciting league because we have arranged a lot of things. We are glad to be associated with netball in the<\/p>\n
country,\u201d Sichone said.<\/p>\n
Blue Eagles Sisters, Civonets, Mafco, Green Sisters and Lioness are some of the teams to feature in the league.<\/p>\n
The league has been without sponsorship for five years after Bio Clinical, withdrew its sponsorship in 2011.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
