National Youth Football Association chairperson, Mabvuto Missi, took Football Association of Malawi (Fam) leadership to task during Saturday\u2019s Extra Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) over the youth body\u2019s non-involvement in the on-going Fifa Under-15 league.<\/p>\n
Fifa chose Malawi for the two-year pilot project of the Under-15 league the whole of Africa, hoping that if it proves a success, such a model can then be rolled out to the rest of the world in the near future.<\/p>\n
Fifa has pumped in US$50,000 into the league.<\/p>\n
However, the local youth association, while being briefed about the league in its formative years, was eventually left out, complained Missi.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have just heard that there is an Under-15 league and that it has kicked off, yet as the president of youth football, I am not involved, can you brief us?,\u201d Missi said.<\/p>\n
In reaction, Fam president, Walter Nyamilandu, insisted that the youth league was Fifa\u2019s project with pre-conditions of a model of administrators.<\/p>\n
\u201cFifa has proposed a joint committee for implementation. It\u2019s not an ideal situation in view of how we operate in Malawi. It might not be your baby because it is a pilot and we do not know if it will be here after two years. You might have to take it with a pinch of salt. It\u2019s a model that is not suitable for our structures, but it is what Fifa wants,\u201d Nyamilandu insisted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
