Quarterly Tnm-sponsored ladies golf tournament starts Saturday at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) with over 60 golfers ready to tee-off.<\/p>\n
A few weeks ago, the mobile phone service provider unveiled a K3 million sponsorship to BSC Ladies Golf Section to enable female golfers host quarterly tournaments.<\/p>\n
BSC Lady Golf captain, Connie Muguvu-Karuku, said all is set to kick-start this year\u2019s quarterly tournaments.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an inaugural tournament of the series of ladies\u2019 golf tournaments at BSC sponsored by TNM. The tournament has received so much interest from golfers at BSC and Country Club Limbe, and we are excited and proud to host this tournament as ladies because previously ladies had very minimal tournaments,\u201d Karuku said.<\/p>\n
Karuku said on the same day, girl golfers will compete in their own category.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want the whole country to know that BSC ladies section is taking ladies and girls golf seriously, and TNM have made their mark by supporting us,\u201d she said<\/p>\n
She thanked TNM for the sponsorship, saying it will go a long way in sharpening talents among lady golfers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThumbs up to TNM, all costs to be incurred during the tournaments will be covered by TNM. This will make the tournaments more attractive to golfers. I encourage more ladies and girls to start playing golf now that we have sponsorship,\u201d BSC ladies captain said.<\/p>\n
Speaking when he unveiled the sponsorship, TNM\u2019s chief commercial officer, Dan Makata, said TNM was happy to contribute towards the development of ladies golf in the country where men dominate the sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cTNM, as a Malawian company, is always committed to supporting all sporting disciplines in the country. We believe with such sponsorship, we will contribute significantly to the development of sports among women and, of course, keeping them in shape,\u201d Makata said.<\/p>\n
