Nyasa Big Bullets on Monday afternoon nabbed suspects alleged to have vandalised the club\u2019s billboard in Limbe, Blantyre earlier this month, in a mischief that annoyed the club\u2019s sponsorship.<\/p>\n
The club dangled a K500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the vandals, and according to the club\u2019s supporters\u2019 committee chairperson, Stone Mwamadi, they received a tip-off last week.<\/p>\n
Mwamadi said the suspect, whose name he claimed is Geoffrey Kaindo, is a Soche resident. The suspect allegedly sold the billboard posters in Mulanje.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspect\u2019s wife confessed that the products were sold in Mulanje, therefore, we travelled there to follow up on the issue, but there we were told by the suspect\u2019s brothers that the suspect had returned to Blantyre. We went to Soche where we found our products hidden in another woman\u2019s house,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mwamadi said the police arrested the suspect\u2019s wife and another woman after the main suspect fled.<\/p>\n
If charged and found guilty, the suspects face up to five years each for theft, a legal expert suggested yesterday.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s management is yet to decide on the reward as it was a group that traced the suspects.<\/p>\n
The suspects were kept at Limbe Police Station on Monday evening, but the station\u2019s deputy publicist, Pedzesai Zembeneko, said he was yet to be briefed about the details.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am yet to get a report on the incident. Once I do, I will be able to comment on that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Bullets sponsors, Nyasa Manufacturing Company, set aside K100,000 to erect the club\u2019s billboards in Blantyre as part of their marketing drive in their K100 million annual sponsorship to the Super League champions.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s supporters\u2019 committee and the police are since looking for the suspected fugitive. Nyasa managing director, Konrad Buckle, recently said he was shocked by the vandalism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
